FAQ - Question and Answers
What you should know about your lips:
-
Q: What significance do they have in our lives?
A: They love for you and laugh for you, they talk, argue and reconcile for you, they feel for you and they kiss for you. -
Q: Why do I need special care for my lips?
A: Lips need special care because the skin on your lips is different in structure to the rest of your skin. The skin on your lips is extremely thin and sensitive. Your lips have no sweat or sebaceous glands and only a little bit of melanin. This is why the skin on your lips requires special care and protection against the general wear and tear of the environment. -
Q: Do lips actually need moisture?
A: Of course lips need moisture, but not from being licked by your tongue. This moisture evaporates and strengthens/boosts the feeling of dry lips. Which is why you should always use a Labello lip care stick. -
Q: Lip care all day long?
A: In order to protect your lips, you should care for them all day long. Not just when you leave the house. Especially in winter, lips can quickly lose their moisture due to dry air from heating. The same applies in summer with air-conditioned environments. -
Q: Chapped lips — what can I do?
A: If your lips become chapped, it’s important to act immediately so they heal and you avoid infections. The best solution is a product that can replenish the irritated skin on your lips with special care and active ingredients to recover/relax, such as Labello Med or SOS Lip Balm. -
Q: Can I get sunburn on my lips?
A: Lips contain almost no melanin or none at all. This natural skin pigment filters out the dangerous UV rays in sunlight. So in direct sunshine, you should always protect your lips with at least SPF 10. We recommend higher protection factors if you’re on the beach or in mountains, e.g. Labello Sun with SPF 25 or Labello UV Alpin with SPF 30.

Q: Is it possible to become addicted to Labello?
A: This is our most frequently asked question. Of course it’s NOT possible to become addicted to Labello. -
Q: How is the tolerability of cosmetic preparations tested?
A: Our cosmetics are thoroughly tested for skin toleration before being approved for market release. These tests are conducted in our research department and by independent research institutes. However, it is impossible to entirely rule out cases of irritation caused by exceptional individual sensitivity to one of the ingredients. -
Q: Why don’t almost all Labello lip care sticks need any preservatives?
A: Because the products either contain no water at all or not enough water for bacteria and fungi to survive. This is also the case with skin oils and bars of soap. Preservatives are contained in some ingredients of only a few Labello sticks. The preservatives are already in the ingredients in order to guarantee highest product quality and safest usage of the product. They will keep the active caring ingredients protected. Not until a product contains a bigger/larger amount of water, preservatives are indispensable. -
Q: Why are the ingredients listed in English?
A: By listing all the ingredients contained in a product, people with allergies can check for substances they can’t tolerate before buying the product. This is done with a uniform system of names that applies throughout Europe. For this purpose, an international commission (INCI: International Nomenclature Cosmetic Ingredients) has developed a nomenclature that all manufacturers of cosmetic products are obliged to use.
